July 28, 2013 – “Lasting Treasures”

The amount of light in our lives depends on the condition of our hearts.  That can overtake the light and lead to darkness.  Where is your heart?  Is the light within you still light or has it become darkness?

Notice that in verse 21 of Matt 6, Jesus mentions the word treasure before heart, where your treasure is there your heart will be also. I always found it interesting those two were not reversed. Each should examine their own treasure to understand it in fact is a reflection of where their heart lies. This concept can also be utilized to evaluate other organizations, a church for example. The Director of Arizona State Missions (SBC), Dr. Steve Bass taught Church leaders to examine calendars and budgets. He said, “you show me a church’s Calander and Budget then I will tell you what is most important to that church without ever stepping foot on the campus or speaking to a single member.” The same can also be said of our individual lives, How evident is the Lord in your Budget and Calendar?
