First Time Visiting

  • Joy and Kindness (J & K) worship service
    • Our worship service begins with a short song signifying the beginning of the service. Sometimes this is accompanied with the blowing of a shofar (rams horn) to alert people that the service is beginning.
    • After that we have a welcome, a sharing of joys and concerns. To learn something new in sign language. This is followed by a Call to Worship. Usually lasts 5 to 10 mins.
    • Then we will sing praise songs and hymns for about 15 minutes.
    • After that comes the reading of Scripture, along with a short sermonette and prayer. This can last about 10 mins.
    • Next is a time to celebrate our little ones as we sing well loved children’s songs, camp songs, etc. This is done without musical accompaniment. This is usually about five mins.
    • There is another Scripture reading, followed by prayer. Which can be another 5 mins.
    • Then comes “Table Time.” Table Time is an interactive time to be in small groups and discuss/reflect/express more about Scripture, the sermonette, and other sharing. That usually lasts 20 to 30 minutes.
    • After Table Time we recite the Lord’s Prayer, sing one last song, have a benediction and then we dismiss. That usually lasts about another five or six mins.
    • The J & K worship service usually lasts about an hour and a half (90 mins).
    • If a person does not want to participate in any part of the service or just needs a time for quiet individual reflection, they can feel free to sit alone, draw, color, or chill. Participation is encouraged, but no one will be pressured into it.
  • What to wear
    • We are typically a casual church with some wearing jeans and some wearing ties so feel free to be comfortable and dress how you wish.
  • Offering
    • We don’t pass a plate but rather have an offering plate at the main entrance to the sanctuary.
  • Accessibility
    • Our building is wheelchair accessible, except for the stage in the sanctuary.
    • We have a restroom that is wheelchair accessible with a changing table and a hoyer for youth and adults.
    • We have headphones and a ‘quiet’ room with visual ability to be a part of the service but maybe have some quieter space with a speaker in the room where volume can be adjusted.
    • We encourage everyone to be a part of the service but if needed there is a nursery room with toys and changing area.
